Many of us have heard of a living will, a healthcare proxy, or a medical power of attorney; but few of us understand how they may impact our care and our family’s decision making if we become seriously ill.  Join us to learn more about these powerful legal documents and how they can be used to assist individuals, families and medical professionals.

·         What is an advanced directive and what is typically directed by most people?

·         What happens if there is no directive?

·         Where do disputes arise and what are most common points of conflict?

·         Are there certain medical diagnoses that trigger more challenges?

·         When does a dispute typically spill over to a 3rd party arbiter?  

·         What issues can arise under a POA when someone is incapacitated?
